Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is eTexathon(); ?
A: eTexathon(); is Granada Hills Charter High School's first hackathon event, whose purpose is to encourage students of all backgrounds and skills to explore the computer science field.
Q: Do I need to have any coding experience to attend eTexathon?
A: Nope! Everyone, regardless of coding background, is welcome at eTexathon. You’ll learn valuable coding skills in Arduino, and hopefully, this event will only be the beginning of your lifelong journey of coding and creating.
Q: I don't know if I'm interested in computer science or coding. May I still come?
A: Of course! Everyone is welcome at eTexathon(); , computer science enthusiast or not. Besides, computer science is not just about coding; it involves a variety of skills, from designing to teamwork to math.
Q: What do I need to bring for the event?
A: Participants will need to bring their school Chromebooks, chargers, and a passion to code and create! Participants have the option of bringing any fabric that can be sewn onto (such as a t-shirt or an old piece of cloth) since the event will involve sewing. Volunteers, mentors, and judges will not need to bring any materials.
Q: Do I have to stay for the entire event?
A: Participants are not required to stay for the entire event, but we highly recommend that you stay for free swag bags given at the end of the day (and to finish your cool e-textile product!). Volunteers, mentors, and judges will be required to stay for the time that they signed up for.
Q: What will I get out of this event?
A: Participants will receive a free swag bag, T-shirt, and food at the day of the event. But most importantly, you will learn how to solve real-world problems and leave this event with your own, creative e-textile product!
